With disease sweeping through an island in the West Indies, Martin Arrowsmith's idealistic nature is put to the test. His duty as a researcher demands that he issue medicine to only half of the plague-stricken citizens, with the other half given only a placebo, all in the name of scientific method. But his colleagues, and his own heart, demand instead that he administer the cure to any and all that need it, scientific research be damned. Caught between carrying out the job he swore to see through, or following what he believes is right, Arrowsmith must make a choice most harrowing. This is a classic radio drama production that is of its time and although remastered, the audio quality can vary.
